My Story

Hello, I am Chin Hock. Welcome to my little space! :)

So, how does my story go? I have had a plethora of working experiences that encompass taking on various positions in a tertiary institute, MNC electronic manufacturing company, broadcasting station, satellite services and so on. Having been immersed in various points of the work spectrum for over a decade highlighted that I was bred in the crucible of many changes.

But what was the ONE change that was all the rage?

I have seen how Singapore engineered itself on the cusp of a digital age, with the prevalence of technology apace. Although technology has since become a key driver of industrial growth, many professionals who had to grasp the mettle of such a change were, ironically, unable to adapt to the volatility of a new working environment.

As a result, the perennial benefits of education were collaterally manifested and the importance of lifelong learning emerged. Hence, I established a private school in 2002, in the hope of being able to assist eager individuals in adapting to changes.

In the past years of service to education, I have changed the lives of many, who were once struggling with such changes but have experienced success in their own ways and are now snuggling comfortably in their varied working cultures. My Methodology

If I have to metaphorize my teaching style, it likens a lighthouse. I’ll guide you through steering your boat of ambition and anchoring in the harbour of success that you can call your own.

My Journey

The very first job I took on which marked the start of my working journey was at Medical Informatics Laboratory in the National University of Singapore. Subsequently, I proceeded to the University of Nottingham and obtained an MSc in Electronic Engineering before returning to Singapore and took on the role of a test engineer in Hewlett Packard (HP). During my stint in HP, I witnessed at firsthand the managing styles of Fortune 500 companies, which left me awestruck, while I understood the importance of education in big companies. As such, I enrolled in the University of Hull’s distance learning MBA course.

After completing the two-year MBA course, I worked in the SAFRA Radio, Ministry of Defence, for I wished for a change in the type of industry. During my term as manager, it became Singapore’s first radio station that conducted a trial for Digital Audio Broadcasting technology. I also took on the role of a Programme Manager which showcased my creativity.

After a few years, I joined the Satellite Teleport company which was a part of Singapore Technologies and was promoted to the prestigious role of Senior Management staff. Subsequently, I was headhunted and joined NewSkies Satellites Company as Director of Sales (Media Solutions), in which I was able to manifest my marketing abilities within a short span of a year.

After completing the MBA course, apart from pursuing a degree in Doctor of Business Administration, I took on several part time teaching jobs. While teaching working students, I learnt about the struggles and difficulties they were enmeshed in, such as striking a balance between working and studying. As a result, I decided to put an end to my career in the corporate world. I established a private school and an educational consultancy company to help those whose perseverance did not falter at the prospect of hardship. After all, their determination was indeed a testament to their burning passion towards learning.

Though my working journey has been replete with challenges, it was nothing short of fulfilling or amazing. As of now, my interest lies in enhancing your learning abilities and maximising your potential. I strongly believe that you have all it takes to achieve that success, in your own unique way!
